In this introductory workshop to the game of chess, beginners and future enthusiasts will learn basic rules and strategies of the game as well as get practice and guidance to the Game of Kings! The five meetings will center on 1) learning the rules of the game and how each piece moves and attacks; 2) understanding and practicing opening strategies; 3) the middle-game and the importance of good exchanges and positioning; 4) the endgame! and what it takes to walk away victorious and; 5) the last meeting will focus on speed chess and the fun and adrenaline rush of playing the game in limited time. Plan to bring a chess set, or share one with a buddy.
Is it time to reflect, reassess and renew? The past year and a half has been difficult at best and even life changing for many. This is an opportunity to look at where we have been and where we might want to go. It is a look at your life past, present, and future in a fun, creative, and unique form. You do not have to be artistic at all to join this class. There will be some supplies available for you to use but all that is needed is paper, pencil, and an open mind. If you would like to bring colored pens or a few old magazines that you can share this would be helpful. No technology is needed to attend this class! This is intended to be fun, relaxing, and amazingly informative. Maybe you will even find gold in your River.
