Audrey McGlashan leads 6 outdoor painting sessions in her observant and generous style. Tuesday classes will focus on near objects and subjects (plants, trees, buildings, people) with the idea of getting to know them with paint. You may revisit them again on Thursday amidst a more panoramic view. You will learn about drawing with pencils or charcoal, and “drawing with paint”. You’ll think about the water in watercolor as the leading tool in creating nuance and form.
Audrey will demo how she works with nearby subjects and a panoramic scene. This demo will be in tandem with your painting time (and be a short-lived interjection so that you can focus on your own work). Discussion and questions are welcome. Bring a folding chair, a board, a jar of water for brushes, your painting tote and sun hat/windbreaker/polar fleece to match the weather. A suggested supply list is available when you register.
As an optional add-on, students can choose to continue with lunch after class at one of the many area eateries, or a cultural destination like CMCA or downtown galleries. On a prescribed day, Audrey plans to share her observations during a tour of the Farnsworth Art Museum for those who can attend.
